Laziness

I'm still here. I'm lazy, but I'm here :) Trying to adjust to the cold weather (brrrr!) that seems to bother me more than it bothers Toby. I think he actually likes it and he can't wait for the cold, snowy, Chicago winter.

Right now we're on our way to visit Toby's grandma. He loves all the attention (and treats) that he's getting over there. I'll see you later! Enjoy this picture of Toby camouflaged in the leaves :)

"Mommy, can you see me?"

Toby likes... (Part II)

...to play with the tennis balls. I think he has more than 15 balls laying around the house. As I write this, I notice that there are 3 right here in the room :)

He's crazy about them and he could play fetch for hours. He'll actually bring you a ball if you ask him "Where is the ball?". It's so funny seeing him search for one :)

"I have my eye on you, you sneaky ball!"
"Can't..reach..it!"

Toby likes...

...to sleep.
Need proof? :)

He loves to sleep on the tiles in the summer

Sleeping in his baby crate

Love, love, love that butt!

"Hmm..this pillow doesn't feel soft. " :)

Sometimes he forgets that he's supposed to sleep on TOP of the bed :) (by the way, I made that bed for him)

The day we brought Toby home...

...was the beginning of a new life for us; we now had a tiny creature that depended on us for everything, that wanted to be around us 24/7.
He was such a good puppy. He was also quiet. I remember that we were trying to make him bark so we can hear his cute voice. :)

I'll share some pics with you from Toby's first night with us. They're proof that you can buy happiness :) (There is also a quote that says: "Whoever said you can't buy happiness, forgot little puppies.")

Also, here is a video of baby Toby. Enjoy! :)

A walk in the park

Here are some pictures of Toby enjoying a gorgeous fall day. I had to keep him on the flexi leash, but he still had fun. I ♥ my happy boy so much..

Flea season?!

Toby had fleas! For the first time. :)

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that he was scratching a lot more than he usually does, so I looked through his coat (Toby's coat is so full that you can barely see his skin) and saw some black residue, but nothing more!

Since he wasn't on K9 Advantix or the other brand -that's because he's more of an indoor dog and also I don't feel comfortable using pesticides on my baby - I kinda knew he was having guests for dinner in his coat :)

So I waited until the morning, read reviews about both brands, decided on K9 Advantix and then I drove to Petsmart to buy it. Before applying the stuff on Toby, we checked him again for fleas, because a day earlier I couldn't see anything, only this time, my poor baby was being attacked by an army of fleas. We picked off as many as we could and then we let the pesticide do its work. We didn't give him a bath before, because Toby has an issue with taking a bath, but that story is for another post :)

Needless to say, we're so glad that we got rid of those yucky creatures and we hope this was the first and last time :)

P.S. My boyfriend just asked me what was I writing about, and I told him that I wrote about Toby's fleas; he replied: "oohh..that's personal!", but, hey, this is a personal blog :)

He is just my dog

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.)

When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant.

His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have.

He is just my dog." -G. Hill

Found this quote a while a ago and I absolutely love it.

Lazy Sunday

I hope everybody had a good week-end. We were lazy :) We had cold, rainy, windy weather and Toby doesn't love the wind at all.

Right now he's taking a nap and we have to eat dinner. I'll be back soon!

"Corgi Butts" giveaway!

I follow Corgi Butts since we got Toby, and this week, Kelly, the owner, is having a cool giveaway. Yay! Toby might win a collar! Paws crossed and here is the link to the post, of course we chose the manly collar :)

First post

Hey, all and welcome to my blog!

My name is Andreea and right now I'm a stay-at-home mom for my Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Toby. This blog will be mostly about him and how he changed our life :)

We got Toby on May 16th, 2009 as a result of me wanting a little soul to take care of. The minute I saw his puppy pictures I knew he was The One :) So we took a trip to Missouri (a 13 hour round-trip drive). Here are 2 never before seen pics of our baby, taken in the car on our way home:

He slept almost the whole time, except the times that we stopped for his potty breaks :) They were quite a few, I must tell you, he was only 8 weeks old.

This was a year ago.. Right now we have a grown, happy, silly, playful, spoiled 18 months old Toby who's putting a smile on our face every singe day! (see photo)
Don't worry, you'll have a chance to "meet" him in my following posts.
